APEX PROFILE
Apex was a very small rural town until all the new construction in Cary burst its seams and spilled over into Apex. Now one of the state’s fastest growing cities, Apex was named one of the "Best Place(s) to Live" in 2007 by Money magazine.
Full of lovely new subdivisions and convenient upscale stripmalls, Apex is also a very easy commute to the business communities of Raleigh, Cary/Morrisville and RTP.
Though a lot of Apex is new, it’s retained a few blocks of “historic downtown,” lined with stores, galleries and restaurants. Strolling up and down this quaint, tree-lined street is a great way to while away an afternoon. One of my favorite restaurants on that street, the Peak City Grill, is worth a trip to Apex even if you don’t live there.
Apex is in Wake County, which means the schools are almost uniformly good. See SCHOOLS for "report cards" on specific public schools in the town.
